Operation Transformation Comes to County Clare
As part of the Operation Transformation National Walk, Clare Sports Partnership will be leading a free walk on the fabulous Lissycasey Looped Walk, on Saturday January 14th at 12noon sharp. The walk will be part of a national network of walks led by the Local Sports Partnership network across the country. John Sweeney, co-ordinator of the Clare Sports Partnership said ‘ we are delighted to be leading this walk on one of the most scenic looped walks in the county.
It is a credit to the Daly family and the local community to have the drive to create this 3.7km loop supported by the Leader Program and the County Council, and has outdoor gym in-corporated into it. Locally based Clare Spring Water will provide refreshing spring water to all participants
The walk forms part of the Clare Trails Programme and its development was also supported by Cyrill Kileen (Walks Officer), FÁS and Shannon Development through their Shannon Region Trails Programme
There are several looped walks, waymarked ways and Sli na Slainte routes in the county, and they can be accessed free of charge and are downloadable from www.shannonregiontrails.ie
The walk is accessible to sturdy buggies. The forest section of the walk is not accessible for wheelchairs, but an alternative road -route is possible. Please wear good strong walking shoes! For further information, please call 065 6865434 and ask for John or Catherine.
See www.claresportspartnership.ie for more details and to download a map of the route.
Walkers Welcome B&B’s offer great locations and storage facilities for their guests, with the option of an early continental breakfast if you want to hit the road early! Click here to book a B&B in County Clare
